- Ask people to come along to your club meetings.
- Send prospective members a newsletter prior to a club meeting so that they know what is going on at the meeting
- Ensure prospective members have a name tag when they arrive at the meeting and introduce them to members
- Don't leave prospective members standing alone
- Don't make decisions for people "They won't join they are too busy" they are old enough to make up their own minds.
- Remember every time you ask someone and they say "no" you are one person closer to the next "yes".

- Design a display for a shop window/bank window in the main street of town.
- Put a display and ABC book collection box at your local library
- Hold a membership "wine and cheese" evening
